HOW DO I APPROACH EMAIL CONTENT?

Before you read my actual templates, I want to unpack the core concepts that I keep in mind when I'm writing an email.  These are my 6 rules of writing a good email!

#1 Make it PERSONAL!

I want it to feel like it's an email coming from me to them... not a mass email blast or newsletter, An actual personal correspondence from me to them. This doesn't mean I'm typing up each email custom, but my tone needs to sound more personal.

#2 It better be RELEVANT!

What I'm talking about is relevant to things going on in their own life. That might mean making sure that if I'm talking about marriage and family tax deductions that I'm emailing it to somebody that actually has a family.

#3 More than just relevant... it needs to be COMPELLING!

Compelling takes relevant to the next level, it means it's not just something that they can relate to, but it's something that is a priority because it has a big impact on them.

#4 Reading it needs to ADD VALUE!

I'm not just pitching them something... I actually want to teach them something or send them something of value. Their life should be better for having read my email, even if they don't reply or engage it.

#5 Create a sense of URGENCY!

I need to make sure that whatever I'm talking about instills that they should act sooner than later... without being pushy! The reason for the Urgency needs to be about them... not about you!

#6 Call to ACTION!

A call to action doesn't need to be a sales pitch per se, it could be something as simple as a question, but you want to give them a reason to reply. You should always end your emails with a suggested next step for them to take.
